Queen Vasilika Hotel
The Queen Vasilika Hotel is situated in the old village of Dhërmi, in the south of the country. The project is surrounded by a historic village where you can witness the best expression of Albania’s vernacular architecture. The high density of the village is dictated by the mountainous landscape, which forces the houses to be close to each other while interconnected by very narrow paths.
However, the true brilliance of this type of architecture lies in the fact that every building is ideally positioned to face either the breathtaking view of the sea, or thepicturesque vista of the mountains.
The Queen Vasilika Hotel takes inspiration from this unique example of traditional urban and architectural design by being conceived as a group of small volumes standing close to each other while interconnected with narrow passages. Each of the building façades creates a play that mirrors the landscape it faces, thus oozing the individuality and uniqueness of the highest vernacular architecture.
